EV’s are powered by electricity and propelled by traction motors. In conventional vehicles, internal combustion engines and fossil fuels are used instead of traction motors and an electricity source. EV’s can use electric energy from onboard sources such as a battery or an electricity generator connect to the internal combustion engines (ICE’s) or off-vehicle energy sources such as overhead lines EV’s have applications in road transportation.
Through the years modifications were done along with testing to suit the above to Indian conditions and use conditions. By early 2017 the standards as applicable to India were arrived at.
